The Coquitlam Chorale is a non-auditioned, SATB, 65-member adult choir based in Coquitlam, British Columbia. We have been sharing our music with Coquitlam, Port Moody and Port Coquitlam audiences since 1967.
The Chorale is both a registered non-profit society and a registered charity, run by a volunteer Board of Directors. Choir members are elected to the Board at our Annual General Meeting.
Our founder, Ray Thompson, believed that there was a need for a choral group where people who love to sing could come together, regardless of ability, and share their music as a community service. Although Ray retired as Chorale Conductor in 1988, we continue to honour and uphold that vision.
Justin began his first season with the Chorale in September 2004. He is a graduate of the UBC Music Program and is presently a Fine Arts teacher at Gleneagle Secondary School in Coquitlam.
Justin is an accomplished singer, performer, and theatre technician. He has been involved with many groups and productions in the Vancouver area including: University Singers and the Vancouver Cantata Singers.
Lorna is a third generation musician who attended UBC completing a Bachelor of Education Degree as a Music Specialist and a Bachelor of Music Degree, studying piano and harpsichord. She also has her ARCT in Piano Pedagogy from the Royal Conservatory of Toronto.
Lorna first sang with the Chorale years ago under the leadership of the late Ray Thompson, founding director. Returning to work for the Chorale as Pianist allows her to enjoy piano performance the way she likes it best; in cooperation with a terrific group like The Coquitlam Chorale.
