For the Health and Safety of our Members and Guests (COVID-19)

Dear Coquitlam Chorale Members,

The Coquitlam Chorale Society is viewed as a safe haven and an extended family to many of our members. As such, your Board of Directors continuously works hard to ensure that your time at Chorale practices and events is always safe and enjoyable. In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the Board is obligated to prioritize the health and safety of our members and the shared spaces that we occupy during rehearsals.

After some serious deliberation, we have decided to cancel this Spring Season’s remaining choir practices, our pub night fundraiser on March 29th, and our performances on April 24th and 26th. If you have already purchased pub night tickets please contact Frances Spalding or Alita Reid and they will coordinate the issuing of refunds.

We know that this news is disheartening to hear as we have been working so hard to prepare for upcoming performances next month. Please know that this decision was not an easy one to make and we feel it is imperative that we do our part to protect the health and safety of our members, their families, and our audiences, and to limit the spread of the virus during this critical time.

We understand that cancelling our Spring performances might cause a significant financial impact to our organization; however please rest assured that the Board is diligently working to develop a plan to address these concerns.

Health and safety is all of our responsibilities. We encourage you to practice safety measures at home and when you are out. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends the following:

  • Wash your hands with soap frequently

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue or your elbow if you have to sneeze or cough.

  • Please stay home if you are sic

  • Take measures to avoid unnecessary contact with large crowds and confined gatherings of people to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

If you have been diagnosed with coronavirus and have recently attended a Chorale practice, please contact me at 604-764-2523 or email at nadison.ada@gmail.com. I will be sure to keep your identity confidential, however it is our duty to inform others that they might have potentially been exposed to the virus so that they can get tested.

Thank you for your understanding, continued support, and all the practice that you have been putting into preparing for our concerts to date. We will continue to keep you informed of any additional actions or decisions we make moving forward.

We greatly look forward to being able to sing together again soon.

Together in Song.

Sincerely,

Ada Nadison
